If anyone can, Cannes: our Côte d'Azur road trip in a Bentley

The famous film festival in Cannes in the south of France starts today - with world premieres and a real star line-up. To kick things off, we celebrate with and cheerfully make our own road movie between Saint Tropez and Cannes. Starring: the "Savoir Vivre" and a Bentley Continental GT Speed Cabrio.

Rock & roll in the sky: that sums up the two world premieres at the Cannes Film Festival. The biopic "Elvis" with Austin Butler and Tom Hanks as well as the long-awaited blockbuster "Top Gun: Maverick" with Tom Cruise are both celebrating their premieres on the Côte d'Azur. Out of competition, of course.

Which brings us to our own little road movie: At the wheel of a grey Bentley Continental GT Speed Cabrio, we set off to meet the stars. The starting point is the Villa Belrose in Saint Tropez and the journey is the destination. Well, next to Cannes with its film festival. Of course, it's not only the vehicle that's first class - but also the drive along the Corniche d'Or.

Our route? As simple as it is beautiful. From Saint-Tropez along the coast to Saint-Maxime. From there it's on to Fréjus and then up through the winding mountain roads into the already mentioned Estérel massif. Back to the coast? Let's take the impressive mountain passes all the way to Cannes. You can find the route here:

“Only the road and the dawn, the sun, the wind, and the rain, and the watch fire under stars, and sleep, and the road again.”

― John Masefield

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”

― Ernest Hemingway
