The sunglasses: Perfect equipment for any car, protection for the eyes, but above all - a real statement. At least, if you find your very own, personal and fitting sunglasses. For Steve McQueen, it was the Persol 714 - foldable, elegant, versatile and simply cool. Just like the wearer. Well, except for the folding part, perhaps. To this day, the model enjoys a legendary status that is little inferior to the wearer. Reason enough to relaunch the icon's favorite model in its own range, Persol decided in the spring of 2021 - now under the umbrella of the »Luxottica« group of companies, perhaps the most exclusive eyewear company per se. Under a single roof, sunglasses from Bulgari, Chanel, Prada, Versace and Ferrari can be found there as licensed brands.
Luxottica is at all the home of strong brands: Oakley, for example, these glasses are known especially in cycling, but also winter sports. The American sub-brand also offers outdoor accessories. The legendary glasses of the other American luxottica brand Ray Ban are anything but accessories: they once became particularly famous with the »Wayfarer« - a simple but elegant pair of sunglasses. Whether the King of Cool also wore them, we do not know - the Aviator he appreciated for sure. Another thing we know for sure: Tomorrow, Luxottica head designer Matteo Battiston will show exactly what makes timeless and at the same time functional sunglasses.
Like last year, the 18th edition of Autostyle, supported by ramp, will once again take place digitally - allowing interested parties from all over the world to participate after registering. The series of lectures kicked off on October 7 - with the presentation of the key speakers of the lecture series. Luxottica chief designer Matteo Battiston will appear tomorrow.
