Montauk, the small town on the easternmost tip of Long Island, has been called “The End” or “The Last Resort”. Today Montauk is filled with hotels, restaurants and boutiques, but the hamlet remains more laid-back than the rest of the Hamptons – at least during the week. A great place for souvenirs is Montauk Mainstay, which sells tees and sweatshirts as well as tableware from local businesses. Of course, you can buy much of this stuff online, but that’s beside the point. Because when it comes to traveling, there really is nothing better than going there yourself.
