On the Road: Pirelli and Bryan Adams present »The Cal 2022«.

After a year-long forced break, the Pirelli calendar is finally making a comeback - and what a comeback it is. Photographed by Bryan Adams, »The Cal« in 2022 is quite musically influenced. And, fittingly, is themed »On the Road.«

So don't say we didn't warn you when the 74-year-old Iggy Pop suddenly jumps out at you half-naked as you flip open the new Pirelli calendar. After »The Cal« was dropped in 2021 (the tire manufacturer donated the money to Corona research), Bryan Adams now photographed artists like Jennifer Hudson, Rita Ora or Cher. The motto »On The Road« is to document the less glamorous tour atmosphere: »I've been on the road for 45 years,« says Adams, »the life of a musician is roads, travel, waiting in hotels and hours backstage.«

Fittingly, the calendar itself comes in an LP slipcase - and features two music makers from very different eras. Although the legendary Iggy Pop can claim the back for himself, the honor of the cover image is given to the musician 'St. Vincent, whose real name is Annie Clark. Speaking of the cover: For the upcoming rampstyle #24, the very same Bryan Adams that shot the Pirelli calendar also contributed five covers. Interview with chief editor Michael Köckritz and photo spread included, of course.

This much can be revealed: Bryan Adams is really casual. He wears plain jeans and a simple black T-shirt, even though he has sold over 100 million records in the 40 years of his career and could dress in velvet and silk if he felt like it. And yet: he doesn't particularly care what others think. Only one thing really gets to him, as he explains in the interview: Namely, that he is said to be responsible for millions of kisses.
