Cool Beans!

Some companies spend a lot of money to find the perfect name for their product. And then there are beanies. The name for the close-fitting knit cap has nothing to do with beans, but probably derives from the slang term “bean”, meaning “head”. This rib-knit beanie from Moncler comes in blue, green, yellow and black.

Board Games

“Zai” is a word in the Romansh language of Switzerland meaning “tough” – and it is the name of probably the most revolutionary ski manufacturer in the world. Now Zai (the company) has come up with something new together with the Saint Laurent fashion label: a pair of 164-centimeter-long black skis made of rubber, ash/poplar wood and titanium materials. (The matching poles are included.)

Side Impact Protection

Eyewear with side shields like these Bozen Sunglasses from Bogner are the best choice for polar expeditions, glacier tours or anytime you find yourself outdoors in winter. That’s because snow scatters UV radiation to such a degree that it cannot be completely stopped by regular sunglasses with just front lenses.

Literally Speaking

At this point, we would like to call attention to J. K. Rowling’s new children’s book The Christmas Pig, the story of a boy named Jack who loses his beloved toy pig and has to travel to the Land of the Lost to get it back. This mysterious and magical land is divided into different regions, places called Mislaid, Disposable and Bother-It’s-Gone, the Wastes of the Unlamented, the City of the Missed, and the Island of the Beloved. On this island we’re sure you would find these black woolen gloves from Moncler – should they ever get lost.

Yippie kay yay!

We’re not sure if the folks over at French outdoor specialist are die hard fans of action movies, but they sure know how to make a perfect ultra-light down jacket. The fact that it is named Bruce? May just be complete coincidence. But it sure would be suitable for many a swashbuckler's use: after all, the French-made piece is not only water-repellent, breathable and impervious to wind – it also simply looks good and is really tough.

The coolness tool
