The wedge is back: Mitja Borkert & the Lamborghini Countach at Autostyle

We have met the new Lamborghini Countach in Pebble Beach - but now we're getting up close and personal with the top model from Sant'Agata Bolognese. Not alone, but with Lamborghini chief designer Mitja Borkert - and of course at Autostyle.

»For me, the Countach is the pure sculpture, the undiluted essence of what makes a Lamborghini,« Mitja Borkert enthuses about the first wedge-shaped Lambo the world has seen. It was precisely the sports car whose shape revolutionized the brand from the Motor Valley itself and the entire sports car market. It is also the sports car that remains the benchmark for Borkert and his team at Centro Stile Lamborghini to this day. That is why, 50 years after the first sighting, it was given its own monument. Like the original, it goes by Countach, but now with the suffix LPI800-4 - a hybridized V12 design statement. Clear, loud, and distinct like its role model.

Not only the name is taken up again, but also specific features of the original prototype with the suffix »LP500«: the gill-like air intakes behind the side windows, the name badge at the front, the striking headlights - and of course, the Gandini line. This describes the distinctive wedge shape that has been so characteristic of vehicles with the bull since the 1970s - as it is for the new Countach. In addition to its development, the new Huracán STO also plays a role in Borkert's workshop. And, of course, a short discourse on Lamborghini's design DNA is not to be missed.

Let's talk about lasting effects. Marlon Brando achieved this not only with the sentence above in the film "The Wild One" - it was Brando's dry answer to the question of what he was rebelling against - but also with his look.

Reeves Reloaded

Keanu Reeves has established a reputation as an action star and in recent years has gained an almost cult-like following for his genuine likeability. Oddly enough, it is precisely this combination that has allowed the fifty-seven-year-old actor to maintain something that can’t be faked: coolness.

Of quaking and living: Kurt Molzer rides the '69 Charger R/T

Since Kurt started writing for ramp again and driving these insane, up to 1,000 horsepower supercars, he's been losing more and more touch with and interest in normal life - according to himself. What helps? Hopefully this completely normal madness behind the wheel of a 1969 Dodge Charger.

The fabric of dreams: Alcantara at Autostyle 2021

Beautiful, lightweight and often found in fast cars: that's Alcantara. You could also say: The somewhat different fabric. The microfiber multi-talent is not only suitable for motorsports, but also has fashion and astronomical potential - as Filippo Taiani shows us at Autostyle 2021.
